Long time ago, there were two half-sisters, Bawang Merah (Shallot) and Bawang Putih (Garlic). Bawang Merah was a lazy, greedy girl who was spoiled by her mother, while Bawang Putih was obedient, diligent, and did all the chores without complaint.

One day, Bawang Putih lost Bawang Merahs scarf in the river while washing it. An old woman found the scarf and offered to return it if Bawang Putih would cook and clean for her. Bawang Putih agreed, and the old woman turned out to be a fairy godmother. She gave Bawang Putih a magical pumpkin that was filled with gold and riches.

Out of jealousy, Bawang Merah wanted the same fortune for herself. She purposely dropped her scarf into the river, hoping to meet the old woman. When she did encounter the old woman, she demanded a bigger reward and refused to help with the chores. The old woman granted Bawang Merahs request, but it turned out to be filled with poisonous snakes instead of gold.

Moral of the story: Good will always triumph over evil, Be kind to others, hard work and determination will eventually pay off, and dont be greedy.

14. The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

There was a boy who tended sheep near a village. He often felt bored and lonely in the fields. He wanted to have some fun and excitement. So he decided to play a prank on the villagers.

He ran towards the village shouting, Wolf! Wolf! Help! A wolf is attacking my sheep! The villagers heard his cry and came running with sticks and stones to chase away the wolf. But when they reached the fields, they saw no wolf at all. They saw only the boy laughing at them.

He said, Ha ha ha! There is no wolf! I fooled you all! The villagers were angry and scolded him for lying to them.

They went back to their homes.

The boy repeated this trick several times over the next few days.

He enjoyed seeing the villagers run to his rescue for nothing.

He thought it was a great joke.

But soon the villagers got tired of his lies.

They stopped believing him.

They said, He is a liar. He is only trying to fool us. We will not listen to him anymore.

One day, a real wolf came and attacked the sheep. The boy saw the wolf and was terrified. He ran towards the village shouting, Wolf! Wolf! Help! A wolf is attacking my sheep! But this time, no one came to help him. The villagers thought he was lying again. They ignored his cries.

The boy begged and pleaded, Please, believe me! This time it is true! There is a real wolf! Please, help me! But it was too late. The wolf killed many sheep and ran away. The boy lost his flock and his livelihood. He cried and said, I wish I had not lied to them. I wish they had trusted me.

The moral message of this story is: Honesty is the best policy. Lying can have serious consequences.

15. The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Once upon a time, there were three billy goats who lived in a meadow. They were brothers and they were called Gruff. They wanted to cross a bridge over a river to reach a green hill where there was plenty of grass to eat. But under the bridge, there lived a big and ugly troll who would eat anyone who tried to cross the bridge.

The smallest billy goat Gruff decided to go first. He walked over the bridge and made a trip-trap sound with his hooves. The troll heard the sound and shouted, Who is that trip-trapping over my bridge? The smallest billy goat Gruff said in a small voice, It is I, the smallest billy goat Gruff. The troll said, I am going to eat you up! The smallest billy goat Gruff said, Oh no, please dont eat me. I am too small and thin. Wait for my brother, he is bigger and fatter than me. The troll said, All right, go ahead. I will wait for your brother.

The middle-sized billy goat Gruff went next. He walked over the bridge and made a trip-trap sound with his hooves. The troll heard the sound and shouted, Who is that trip-trapping over my bridge? The middle-sized billy goat Gruff said in a medium voice, It is I, the middle-sized billy goat Gruff. The troll said, I am going to eat you up! The middle-sized billy goat Gruff said, Oh no, please dont eat me. I am not big enough for you. Wait for my brother, he is bigger and fatter than me. The troll said, All right, go ahead. I will wait for your brother.

The biggest billy goat Gruff went last. He walked over the bridge and made a loud trip-trap sound with his hooves. The troll heard the sound and shouted, Who is that trip-trapping over my bridge? The biggest billy goat Gruff said in a big voice, It is I, the biggest billy goat Gruff. The troll said, I am going to eat you up! The biggest billy goat Gruff said, Oh no, you are not. I am going to fight you! He lowered his horns and charged at the troll. He hit him hard and knocked him off the bridge into the river. The troll sank into the water and drowned.

The three billy goats Gruff crossed the bridge safely and reached the green hill. They ate as much grass as they wanted and lived happily ever after.

The moral message of this story is: Dont be greedy and bully others. You may meet someone stronger than you.
